Wallets show a new address for privacy, but old addresses still receive. Reusing one doesn't merge UTXOs or cut fees; it only makes payments easier to link.
At 0.3 sat/vB, merging twenty native SegWit UTXOs costs about 421 sats. The break-even formula shows how high future fees must climb for that to pay off.

A high send fee from your own wallet usually means a higher rate than needed, an old address type, or many small coins. The unsigned preview tells you which.
