About Sats in Practice
Practical Bitcoin decisions, one step at a time.
Small purchases raise practical questions: when to withdraw, what a transfer costs, and how to keep a wallet manageable. We explain the calculations and checks behind those decisions.
What you can learn here
Sats in Practice is an English-language educational site for people buying and holding relatively small amounts of Bitcoin. Our guides focus on purchase costs, withdrawals, transaction fees, UTXOs, and wallet backups.
A UTXO is an unspent transaction output: one of the separate pieces of Bitcoin a wallet can use in a later payment. Knowing how those pieces affect transaction size helps explain why two wallets with the same balance can face different spending costs.
The aim of each guide is a concrete result: a withdrawal rule, a reconciled transaction, a fee calculation, or a completed wallet check. We do not publish price targets, trading signals, or promises of returns.
How the guides are prepared
These guides were prepared with AI assistance. We link to the provider pages and technical documentation behind each important claim so you can check it at the source.
Fee figures come from sources you can open yourself: exchanges' public fee pages, mempool.space for current and historical fee rates, Bitcoin Optech's transaction size calculator, Bitcoin Core release notes, and wallet makers' own guides. Figures that change carry the month we pulled them, and most guides show where to look them up again. Worked examples use round numbers so the arithmetic is easy to follow, and they are kept apart from measured values.
Interface images are actual screenshots or images supplied in official documentation. Their captions identify the source and, where applicable, the capture date. Original diagrams explain costs and wallet concepts; they do not imitate account screens or transaction receipts.
A tutorial does not mean an account was opened, a product was personally tested, or a transaction was completed for the article. Fees, eligibility, and interfaces change, so check the confirmation screen before committing funds. Sats in Practice is responsible for the final wording, calculations, and source choices, and we do not claim first-hand testing that did not take place.
Providers and referral links
This site is not operated by a cryptocurrency exchange or wallet manufacturer. Naming a provider explains a particular workflow or comparison; it does not establish that the provider is suitable for every reader. Compare the complete cost, regional availability, withdrawal route, and account conditions.
The only referral link on this site is in our Binance registration guide, and it is disclosed next to the link. We may earn a commission if you sign up through it. A referral does not guarantee a rebate or lower fee; only the terms Binance shows for your account apply. An ordinary source citation is not evidence of a commercial relationship.
Before acting on a guide
Bitcoin can lose value, exchanges can restrict access, and self-custody mistakes can cause permanent loss. The guides explain processes and trade-offs; they are not investment advice and do not assess your personal finances.
Check the exact network and destination before a transfer, and use the documented backup procedure for your device. We will never ask for your recovery words, passphrase, device PIN, or a two-factor code, and no fee check or withdrawal fix needs them. If someone asks for them in our name, stop and don't reply. Keep transaction notes and screenshots private when they could identify you or your balances.
